Thanksgiving!

A thanksgiving tradition we have is my Dad makes meat stuffing. It's not usual stuffing but it's a tradition that's been in my family for years. My Dad always makes it the night before thanks giving. Meat stuffing consists of ground beef, bread stuffing, purayed vegetables, and bell seasoning. My Dad cooks it for about and hour and when it's ready I am the taste tester. I let him know if he needs to add anything or if it's good. This is one of my favorite family traditions.

I share thanksgiving with most of my family. We go to dinner at my Mom's sisters house. My Grandparents are there my aunty Cindy and Uncle Brian and their daughter Gracie, my aunt Tracy and then my parents brother and I. After dinner we go to my Dad's parents house. All of my Aunts and uncles are there and some of my cousins go too. There is a lot of us on my Dad side of the family.

The meaning of thanksgiving is to show and reflect on the things in life you are thankful for. I think it's a good time to reflect on all the good things in life and realize how lucky we are in life. I also think it's a good time to be with family. My family is very close and it's nice to all be together and show how thankful we are for each other.

Triad Experience

  We went to Bertini's a family owned italian restaurant we chose it because it looked interesting and like a sense of place in salem. I went to dinner there and talked to the waitress about the project. I asked her the type of people that come in and why has the restaurant been open so long.

I learned that Bertini's is a family owned restaurant opened by Charles Bertini and his wife Ester. It was opened in 1943 and has been opened for over 70 years. Now their grandson runs the family business. The restaurant gives off a homey vibe. Everyone that works their is very friendly and kind, they make you feel like part of the family. This is why so many people have been going here for 70 years. Bertini's is a big sense of place for many people in Salem. One lady went there as a child with her parents and still continues to go. The restaurant gives you a sense of place and that is why it has lasted so many years.

This contributed to my sense of place because it made me feel more connected to Salem. I felt more like a local going there than I have anywhere else.

I chose to do my research paper on sense of place. I'm going to connect the restaurant to sense of place and how important it is.

sense of place at park

While in the park I noticed how interconnected everything is to each other. The trees and plants are connected to the animals and humans in the park because the trees give us oxygen to breath and we give them carbon dioxide. The ocean is also interconnected to the people in the park. The ocean feeds us with fish and other animals and also is a place for people to make money. I value the park because it is a nice place to go to be out doors. It is calm and peaceful and also pretty. By noticing how connected everything in the park is it has made me value it more. This park plays a role in my sense of place in Salem because it reminds me of home being close to the ocean. I also makes me feel more connected to nature being in the park. I liked taking the field trip to the park it was nice and peaceful to be outside. I liked the thirty minutes we had to just sit and take in everything around us. I found this a nice way to connect to your surroundings and appreciate it more. The only thing I did not like is having to draw a picture of what we saw and senses. It also got cold and made it hard to enjoy the field trip. I would like to do more field trips like this one I enjoyed being outside and found it very relaxing.
