National Park Field Trip

On the trip to the National Park I learned a lot about Salem's history. I learned about how important trade and maritime was to the city. The customs in Salem was a huge part of the economy. Hundreds of boats would come in bringing all sorts of goods. The government made a lot of money from taxing these goods that came in. As time went on trade was not as popular but the industrial revolution was becoming popular. Soon many factories were built these factories attracted immigrants many from Poland. Salem is a city full of history the field trip taught me a lot about the history of Salem.

This experience contributed to my sense of place. I learned a lot about Salem and it's history. Learning all of this made me feel more connected to the city. I also felt more connected being close to the water. I'm from cape cod so I'm always near water, and today it made me feel more connected.
